Answer
·  Who do I contact about abusive and/or legal matters related to this board?

The authors of individual posts are responsible for any claim, statement or remark made in their contributions. The moderators or administrator of this site are not responsible for its content. If you have any concern with a post in any topic in any forum, you should contact the or one of the forum moderators.

Please note that phpBB Group has absolutely no control and cannot in any way be held liable over how, where or by whom this board is used. It is absolutely pointless contacting phpBB Group in relation to any legal (cease and desist, liable, defamatory comment, etc.) matter not directly related to the phpbb.com website or the discrete software of phpBB itself. If you do email phpBB Group about any third party use of this software then you should expect a terse response or no response at all.

·  How can I be ranked an Industry Expert?

This rank cannot be obtained by posting alone. It is a special rank awarded by the administrator at his sole discretion. If you wish to be awarded this rank, please contact the administrator directly.

The following criterias may be used to determine if a user is ranked "Industry Expert":

  • Can your identity be ascertained?
  • Have you been on the Progam Committee of any conference?
  • How many papers, books or articles have you published?
  • Do you have references that would consider you an "industry expert"?
  • Is the offered bribe large enough?

·  When I click the email link for a user it asks me to login?

Sorry but only registered users can send email to people via the built-in email form. This is to prevent malicious use of the email system by anonymous users.

·  What is the policy for postings to the

The cost for postings ads to the "Looking for Candidates" forum of the Verification Guild for 30 days is US$100. The fee is waived if the posting is from an engineer looking to augment his or her team or the direct hiring manager. The fee applies to postings from head hunters and human resources departments.

The Verification Guild is a not-for-profit (yet time-consuming) activity. The proceeds fund all hosting and maintenance services for the Guild website. They have also been used to sponsor best verification-oriented paper awards at conferences. I am sure I can come up with tons of other uses.

·  Why not simply accept ads only from the hiring managers or other team members?

The fee was introduced to help curb the flood of postings from head hunters who saw a posting to the Verification Guild as a no-cost, no-risk opportunity, not to generate revenue for myself or prevent postings.

However, recruiters are providing a valuable service (for which they should be compensated) of marketing the positions and sifting through several dozens of candidates. These are activities that would detract from an engineer's primary job of making sure a design is correct - which is an even more important (and costly) use of resources.

One also has to consider the consequences of not providing an avenue for recruiters to contact this audience, a highly desirable market segment. Spamming contributors would be their only option left.
